Pour a glass of water into every drain in your home: washbasins, showers, bathtubs and kitchen sinks.

Why? Because the water trapped inside the drain trap (also known as the water seal) can evaporate if the plumbing system is left unused for several weeks.

The result: unpleasant odours from the drainage system may rise back into your home.

When you return, repeat the process if necessary.

It’s a simple gesture that takes less than a minute and can help you avoid an unpleasant surprise.
