"Bricol Girls" was born from the meeting between two complementary and ambitious girls who set themselves a crazy challenge: renovating a house from A to Z.
Nathalie: I bought this house in March 2020, at the time of the first confinement. A house to be completely renovated, from floor to ceiling. I already had a first experience by retyping my first house. But there… we really had to redo everything. And very quickly I said to myself: but why not do it myself? Redo everything without the help of professionals? Nothing is impossible ! And I immediately met Aude.
Aude: just as crazy as Nathalie, I was immediately interested in the project. Granddaughter and daughter of a craftsman, I have been immersed in this environment all my life. The challenge was launched: we were embarking on more than 2 years of work.
Nathalie: and we launched our “Bricol Girls” Instagram account very quickly. First to share our adventures with our families and friends. And also to find mutual aid: advice, tips, material or even human help sometimes. And to show that anything is possible from the moment you have the motivation!
Passion for the profession
Nathalie: we really complement each other. I can easily project myself. And I shared my life in a past life with a cabinetmaker. I like to create, give new life to the old, renovate.
Aude: as I was telling you, I have always liked tinkering thanks to the family heritage. And besides my job, because yes we both keep our job in addition to the construction site, is to repair mobile phones!
In plumbing in particular, solutions must be sought and found. And I like things that are complicated to solve! Like a puzzle.
Nathalie: to sum up, I'm more into patience and reflection: the choice of finishes, materials. While Aude likes the big work.
Greatest achievement
Nathalie: learning and sharing. Both of us have to learn everything. And thanks to the Instagram community we benefit from advice that we then share with others! There is a lot of support in both directions!
Obstacle
Aude: Obviously, at the very beginning, find a balance between professional life and life on the site. And then the lack of knowledge: we are constantly learning.
